If you do visit please respect our Town keeping to all the current regulations in force at the time and please leave nothing but footprints in the sand when you depart.
Although this site majors on Broadstairs we felt compelled to create this page about the Wildwood Trust based in Herne Common between Herne Bay and Sturry. We first visited Wildwood with our grandaughter in 2007 and were tempted to join as supporters. This entails paying a monthly fee which allows entry for Janie and myself and up to 8 named children/grandchildren at any time. As well as being a park for viewing the animals they are into conservation projects in a big way, have bred Scottish Wild Cats and have a big project underway for beavers as well as many others.
Wildwood is set in 40 acres of unique woodland and you can see many species of native UK animals and birds as far as possible in their native habitat. The list of animals is long and goes from bees to beavers, owls to otters and wild boar to wolves. We often visit and have recently seen the young wild boars born in early 2008.
As well as the animals to see there is a childrens play area, a cafe and a shop. Wildwood also puts on special events for school holidays. They also have visits from local schools and run education sessions and workshops which members and the public can attend. Please click on their image at the top of the page to visit their website and find out all about this lovely place and the work they do.
On 29th September 2015 I was lucky again to be on another Photography Day at Wildwood. These days run regularly throughout the year (see the Wildwood website for details). You can see some of my photos taken on this day here.
